We asked Vee from Glamour Doll Eyes a little about herself and her company. To check out Glamour Doll Eyes, visit their store, MySpace, YouTube, or blog.

Q:  What is your name and company?
My name is Vee and my company is Glamour Doll Eyes.

Q:  How did you decide that cosmetics were your calling?
Honestly, it was just something I wanted to do. I wasn’t really into make up growing up because I lived with my dad, I wore powder and such but nothing too much. I had a friend that wore make up and she would make me up when we would go out and one day, I just decided I wanted to make it. I told my husband and that’s where it all started!

Q:  How did the idea for Glamour Doll Eyes come to be?
I did a TON of research. It didn’t happen over night. I worked on “formulas” for a week or maybe even more of what would work and not work. It started out on MySpace, I honestly never thought it would get as big as it did. My breaking point was when I asked JennisseMakeup of YouTube to do a tutorial. I got about 100 friend requests on MySpace and then that is when I decided to make a website.

Q:  How long has Glamour Doll Eyes been in business?
I opened up my MySpace on November 21st so that is essentially when it “started” but my website was officially opened on January 29th. So whichever.

Q:  Was it difficult to decide on the perfect name for the brand? How did you come up with it?
It wasn’t hard. I asked my best friend for some ideas and Glamour Doll was the first one that came to my mind. I asked a few friends and they gave other suggestions but that is the one that kept coming to my mind. The idea that I wanted behind Glamour Doll would be a photograph of a girl with pale skin (to mimic porcelain) and then rosy cheeks and with my colors, so that she would look like a doll.

Q:  Was it challenging to take the brand from an idea to an actual business plan? What were the biggest obstacles?
It wasn’t too challenging. After you do the “business” side of it, everything after that is just creating and fun! The biggest obstacle that I have found is getting the process perfected to get it out in a timely manner.

Q:  What inspires your gorgeous shadow hues?

Everything and everyone inspires me. I have people ask me to make a color and I make it. Usually when I make colors, it’s not something that I am like “I want a color like this”, I just usually throw a bunch of pretty colors together and come up with a color I am satisfied with!

Q:  Is it difficult to design products that will work for all or most of your customers?
I haven’t found it too difficult. Up until recently it seemed like everything worked on everyone. I know that its not going to be the same for everyone so I just make sure that I have several options of each color and type to make sure that everyone can use them!

Q:  What do you feel draws someone to purchase a particular product or brand?
Awesome pictures are a must! If a customer feels like they are getting a true color reading out of a picture, they will purchase. I also think appearance is great too. I work hard on my labels, they are printed out on card stock, I take time to make everything presentable. Everyone loves the cute factor!

Q:  What have been your best marketing tools, to get your products out there to the masses, so far?
YouTube is my number 1 source for advertising. It was MySpace at first but I wasn’t getting sales from MySpace. You also have to spend money (give away free samples, jars, etc for review) to make money.

Q:  What kind of person is are Glamour Doll Eyes ideal for?
I think Glamour Doll is for anyone. My mom (who is 50 something) and my aunt (who is 40 something) both wear my shadows every single day and of course myself, my friends, my cousin and my customers who’s ages vary. Also anyone who loves fun, spunky and creative colors! We do have neutral colors as well, for those who prefer a more subtle look!

Q:  What would you tell someone who has not yet tried your products and has interest, but is nervous about that first order?
Search YouTube for reviews, tutorials and looks using Glamour Doll Eyes. There are tons out there! I also offer samples for only $2.00, that way you can try it and if you don’t like it, you didn’t waste the money on a full jar. If you want to purchase a full jar after buying a sample, we take the price of the sample off the price of the full jar. You never know if you will love it until you try it!

Q:  What are your future visions and goals for Glamour Doll Eyes?
My husband thinks I should open up a kiosk in the mall but I don’t think I am there yet. I would love to have tons more colors, maybe even lip products and foundation but this is WAY far in the future. I have a huge audience on YouTube and would love to make it a larger audience as well!

Q:  Are there any new products in the works that you can tell us about?
Some may know about this already but I am working on a Lip Conditioner. I have been working on it for about 3 months and not sure if I want to release it yet!

Q:  Are there any fun facts about yourself that you would like to share with us?
I don’t know! I asked my husband if there were any “random facts” about me and he said that I am so random that it doesn’t seem random to me or him anymore. Here is a random fact: I eat everything in a circle. Like if I have a hamburger, I will eat around it until I just have the middle. Same with a sandwich. Its just something I do. haha
