Q: Do you have any nicknames?
Tiff, T, Cakes…haha
Q: We usually see you sitting down on camera! How tall are you?
5’7″ or 5’8″
Q: Does anyone ever tell you that you look like someone famous? If so, who?
I get Celine Dion all the time. I also get Jennifer Aniston sometimes.
Q: When did you become interested in cosmetics and beauty products?
At a very young age! I’ve always been intrigued by makeup and all the pretty colors. I always played with it when I was younger, but didn’t really start wearing it until high school.
Q: Who are your inspirations as far as fashion and beauty?
This is always a tough question because I like to do my own thing. But as far as makeup goes,I always think Kim Kardashian’s makeup looks great. I love her style too.
Q: What is your philosophy on makeup?
Wear what makes you happy! Also, there are no “rules”. I hate that word. But there are some little helpful tips you should always remember
Q: What are a few of your “obsessions” right now?
I’ve recently discovered sushi…and I’m obsessed. I was always scared to try it because I’m allergic to shellfish. But I’ve gotten brave lately and tried the non-shellfish kind. ..and I crave it everyday!
I’ve also been really obsessed with Nicole Richie’s jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960. LOVE it. I want every piece!
I’m also all over the Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 2. Yeah, it’s like watching a train wreck, and I don’t really think all the women are neither “real”, nor “housewives”, but it’s good tv. Plus it’s funny because it takes place where I’m from.
Q: What does your husband think of your YouTube adventures? Does he now know more about eyeliner than any man should?
He’s so proud of what I’ve done on there! He’s just really happy that I’m doing something I enjoy. When I first started, I was really unsure of it and kind of embarrassed for anyone to see it, but he always encouraged me to keep doing it and not delete my account. THANKS BRAD! And yes, he’s probably been exposed to more makeup than any man should.
Q: How did you and your husband meet?
We went to high school together and were friends, but didn’t start dating until college.
Q: Do you ever have any free time to watch a little YouTube? What are your favorite channels to watch?
I actually don’t get around to watching as many videos as I used to, but I love it when I can sit down and catch up! As far as favorites go, I love people that are unique, entertaining, and genuine. You can always kind of tell what motivates people. When people start acting different or changing, I tend to stop watching. Sounds bad, but I’m being honest!
Q: What got you started doing videos on YouTube?
I’m a teacher at heart and LOVE explaining things to others and knowing that I’ve helped someone. I’ve always loved makeup and had always loved doing it on other people and talking about beauty and trying new products. I’d be doing my makeup and discover an awesome combination or trick or I would find an amazing product and have no one to share it with! YouTube was seriously the perfect place for me. Now I can share it with thousands! I never imagined a fun hobby would open so many doors and become what it has for me.
Q: How does it feel to have over 75,000 people care about you and your opinions?
It’s insane. There are really no words to explain it. I’m of course so amazed that so many people have found me and value my opinion and enjoy what I do. For me, imagining that I’m reaching that many people is really hard to fathom, but what I love most is that I’ve helped people. It’s truly very rewarding. I get the most touching messages that really make me see the big picture and remind me why I do this and enjoy it so much.
Q: How has YouTube affected your life?
It’s really opened so many doors for me that I could have never imagined. What started out as a fun hobby turned into a new career path for me. People always say to do what you love. It’s very true in my case. To start out doing something purely for fun and to help people, then for it to become what it has for me is really amazing. I never thought anything like this was even possible…especially that all this could come from a YouTube channel about makeup!
Q: How do you manage to keep your channel such a positive place despite all of the negativity constantly coming at YouTubers?
I don’t really think there’s necesarily a lot of negativity coming at us. I just think that sometimes the negative is what shocks us and stands out the most. It’s what evokes the most emotion. When you really look at the big picture, there is so much support, positive comments, and the nicest most flattering compliments coming our way constantly. It’s something that wouldn’t necesarily happen in everyday life you know? It’s sometimes impossible to read it all. To me that’s insane. So I think YouTube is incredibly positive. My philosophy with haters and rude comments: If an anonymous person with a bag over their head came up to me in real life and said some of the things they say online to my face, I would laugh and they would look pretty sad. It’s the same, except they’re hiding behind a computer screen making rude comments to women. Sad. I wouldn’t waste my time on that in real life, so I certainly don’t pay attention to it on the internet.
Q: We know you love your subscribers! But is there anything that you get sick of being told or asked?
In the beginning it was, “WHY ARE YOU IN THE CLOSET??” haha and the answer was always the same… “Because my vanity table is in our walk-in.” It really freaked people out for a while there. I don’t really get any repetitive questions like that anymore that really get to me.
Q: Do you ever have buyers remorse for spending your hard earned money on beauty products?
Not really. I used to go crazy with it, but normally, I kind of plan out shopping trips and only buy what I really want or need. I’ve never been much of a “grab everything” shopper. I’ve never really used credit cards either, so I think that’s kind of helped me be a smart shopper and to buy nice things, but only things I can afford. So I never really feel “remorse”. Especially with makeup. I buy the things I’ve been eye-ing or things I really need or want. …But sometimes I really need and want lots of things 😉
Q: What draws you to buy a certain product or brand of makeup?
Definitely quality, price, and color selection. I use a lot of MAC and I always want people to understand why. It’s not because I’m using MAC just to “use MAC”. I use it because I love the quality of the products and the fact that they have lots of shades to choose from. They have a great range of neutral colors as well as bright fun colors. I like that in a brand, just because most brands are more geared toward one or the other. I also love their palette system and the recycling program. It’s a really great line in general. However, I’ll be quick to say that I hate their foundations for the most part. Make Up For Ever has them beat on that one, but that’s another story. I just use what I like. Not because it has a fancy name or showy packaging.
Q: With so much new product information at your disposal do you have any classic “go to” cosmetic items? What are a few of your favorites?
I’ll always love my black eye liner. MAC’s Blacktrack Fluidline is my favorite. Oh and NARS blush in Orgasm. I could use it every day. Max Factor’s Clear Mascara is also a long-time fav of mine. I’ve been using the stuff since before middle school when I wasn’t allowed to wear “real” mascara. But I’ve always used it on my brows religiously to keep them in place.
Q: Do you have any beauty secrets or tips that you think most other people don’t know about?
Sleep is magic. But I’m pretty sure most people know that.
Q: We want to play Pee Wee’s Playhouse. Will you slip a “secret word” into your next video for our readers? The secret word is “Scrumptious”.
I would be happy to. Only if you promise that my furniture will come to life and scream like in the show.
